About Our School

Welcome to Northill C of E (VA) Lower School

We are a small Voluntary Aided (VA) lower school that is situated in the picturesque village of Northill in Bedfordshire. The school is dedicated to providing a broad and balanced education for pupils from four to nine years of age. Our staff, resources and facilities fully cater for the needs of all our pupils. There are currently 63 children on roll. In addition to a very caring and professional team of teachers, support in the classroom is augmented by an experienced and dedicated team of teaching assistants.

As a designated Church of England (CofE) school, we strive to provide a Christian environment which enables our children to reach their potential, to develop an understanding of self and others, and to care about the world in which we live.

To further establish our distinctive Christian ethos, to embed good behaviour, and to educate our children to become thinking, confident, responsible and caring individuals, we have introduced a values-based education programme. Values-based education helps everyone in the school – adults and children – to understand, reflect on, think deeply about and become the living embodiment of a series of Christian values which will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives. Research has shown that successful values-based schools are not only happy places to be, but also have a calm and reflective atmosphere where the values permeate all aspects of school life and lead to raised standards in teaching, learning, and behaviour.

As well as finding information about our school and curriculum on this site, we do hope that you will gain a sense of the school’s mission to care for and work to the highest possible standard to enable the children in our care to flourish, to enjoy learning, and to grow into responsible individuals.

We hope that you find the resources and links on the site useful. We look forward to working in partnership with you to ensure we continue to provide a happy environment conducive to achieving success for all.

The staff and governors are very pleased to say that during our last Ofsted inspection, the school, once again, received a rating of “good” from the inspector.
