Arrival at school
Our gates open at 8.50 am each school morning. Parents are welcome to wait in the playground with their children until the bell rings at 9 o'clock. The children will line up and be collected by their class teacher. If parents want to leave their children at 8:50 am then please let the member of staff on duty know. A member of staff will be on duty in the playground when you arrive, which enables parents to inform staff if someone different is collecting their child/ren, write in the message book and hand in letters, monies etc.
We are very fortunate to have a large playing field, tennis court, galaxy climbing frame, playground area and an early years play area for our Reception, Hedgehog, class as part of the Free Flow Play.
Children access these facilities during the day, weather permitting, as follows:
Hedgehogs (Reception) have access to the Early Year Play area all day, so they can go in and out as they choose. Outdoor learning opportunities are provided to support both the EYFS Curriculum. The children have access to trikes, scooters, tennis equipment, garden equipment and other sports equipment and have many role play opportunities.
Squirrels (Y3/4), Otters (Y1, Y2) and Hedgehogs (EYFS) have a playtime from 10.45 am – 11.00 am. Sports equipment so that the children can play tennis, football, cricket, unihoc, basketball and skipping is available on a rotation basis. The children use the field as much possible (weather permitting) where they have access to the galaxy climbing frame, trim trail, monkey bars and climbing wall.
Lunchtime is from 12 noon to 1 pm. The children have all the facilities and equipment described above at lunch time, the children eat their lunch in the school hall.
Hedgehogs (Reception) and Otters (Y1, Y2) have an afternoon playtime together from 2 pm – 2.15 pm. Once again sports equipment is available for children to use.
The normal school day ends at 3.15pm. Parents are encouraged to collect their children promptly at the end of the school day. The children are asked to remain with their teacher until they can go with the person who collects them. If you are unavoidably detained your child will remain with staff until we can contact you. Please inform the school if someone different is collecting your child/ren.
